About Our Practice
|
Fees and Insurance
Most
psychotherapy sessions are 45-50 minutes long. For the remainder of
the hour, your doctor will spend time taking additional notes,
contacting a physician on your behalf, making plans for the next
session, or doing other paperwork related to your treatment.
The first visit to one of our psychologists for evaluation is $150.00. Subsequent sessions are
charged at $120 per 50-minute session, unless you schedule a lengthier
visit. Charges for visits to our psychiatrists are different and will vary. You will need to check with your therapist for charges related
to psychological testing, letters and reports. Fees for services
provided outside our offices (i.e., hospital visits, court testimony)
are usually charged at a higher rate. Occasional short phone calls are
not charged. More frequent or lengthier calls (more than 5 minutes)
may be charged at a prorated fee based on $120/hour.
Insurance may cover most or part of the cost of your therapy. Given
the complexity of insurance coverage these days, you will want to
contact your insurance company and ask about mental health benefits,
deductibles, co-pay and if they have a limited provider panel. Our
office may be able to help you answer some of these questions.
You will want to know:
(1) Will my policy cover the specific doctor I want to see at Alabama
Psychotherapy & Wellness Center?
(2) Do I have a deductible and what is it?
(3) How much of each visit will my insurance cover and what portion am
I responsible to pay 'out-of-pocket'?
Can APWC file your insurance claims for you?
Yes, we can file your insurance claims with a filing fee of
$10/session. You will need to pay for sessions until the insurance
reimbursement is made to this office by your insurance company. After
that, you will only need to pay your out-of-pocket portion.
OR, we will be glad to help you file insurance claims for yourself. We
will provide the forms and instruction for how to file which will
allow you to save the filing fee expense.
If you have a managed care company, one that has your doctor listed as
a provider on their panel, you will only need to pay your co-pay and
we will file the insurance claims. There are no filing fees with
managed care contracts. We also file for Worker's Compensation cases
and Medicare without filing fees. Do check on the limits of coverage
with your policy and get an authorization number to assure that your
insurance company will cover your care.

Your Privacy
Confidentiality
is an important factor in therapy. The code of ethics for
psychologists as well as various state and federal laws insure that
the conversations you share with your therapist in the context of your
therapy will remain confidential unless you give written consent
otherwise. Exceptions to this policy include the demands of your
insurance company, issues of your safety or that of another, or a
court order for records as in custody litigation. Your doctor can
discuss this further, if you wish, at your appointment.
